É isso que faz dele uma presença invisível, um “fantasma.”

This is a film about the totalitarian wish of a body and its impotence... Sérgio (Ricardo Meneses), a garbage collector goes through the labyrinths of the garbage of Lisbon, cleaning the city, in routes that nobody knows, keeping garbage items that interests him. There seems to be an invisible presence in his being that dictates what he does... is it “ghost?”

O FANTASMA is an extraordinary psychological film... it’s about one’s deepest fantasy. Its explicitness was entirely appropriate and not pornographic as pornography depicted self-denial. The lead actor’s innocent handsomeness will evoke either empathy or desire or both...

И так солдат за солдатом, матрос за матросом - выстраивается картина жизни в российской армии. Некоторые курсанты лежат обнаженные на постели Коккера и общаются с ним в таком виде. Многие из них напоминают моделей студии BelAmi... Некоторые откровенны изначально, а некоторые раскрываются только под воздействием алкоголя.... В общем, фильм просто бесценен для любителей парней в форме.

It took 5 years for Canadian director Steve Cokker to make a research about homosexuality in Russian army. The film is based on his interviews with soldiers and sailors in St. Petersburg. The first guy he met was from largest Naval Academy, and he agreed to meet with him one evening. He shared what it is like and how soldiers get intimate with another soldier, a sailor with another sailor. In his hotel he met some other boys who are at ease being naked in his bed whilst telling their stories. Some of them have to be under the influence of alcohol for them to share their true experiences. Shooting the film is almost having the same experience as if you are in a Belami studio. In general, the film is simply priceless for fans of guys in uniform.

A documentary worth seeing... sometimes you'll laugh... at times you'll feel so bad.

Dona Herlinda, a wealthy and fantastically manipulative widow who lives in Guadalajara, accepts in silence the affair between her son Rodolfo and Ramon, an attractive young music student. When Dona Herlinda invites Ramon to live with them saying that Rodolfo has a bed so big, the situation is incredibly convenient for Rodolfo to marry Olga, a young feminist and employee of Amnesty International.

Quite honestly, I like the theme of this very imaginative feel-good film but some parts are rather slow and unimportant, i.e., promoting tourism and culture of Guadalajara, Mexico, that at some point I felt like I'm watching a travelogue or something. But setting that flaw aside, it does really make one feel good when one's Mom is there pampering her son regardless of his sexuality. What's more wonderful is how she treats her "son-in-law" -- she seems to care for him next to her dead husband. A good weekend watch for everyone!

An inter-generational and interracial affair that's probably still taboo to the West but not in Asia whereby some gays (and even straights) opt for "gweilo" lovers for some financial security reasons and for their being unique in colour. The plot is somehow flawed and the acting maybe amateurish but it's still worth watching.

Bombay Boys (1998)

This is an unorthodox comedy film about the adventures of three young men of Indian origin (NRIs as commonly known) and raised in New York, Sydney and London. All three arrived on the same day at Mumbai International Airport where they accidentally meet. Krishna Sahni (Naveen Andrews) is an aspiring actor from New York who wants to make it big in Bollywood; Ricardo Fernandes (Rahul Bose) is from Sydney who is trying to search for his long-lost brother; and Xerxes Mistry (Alexander Gifford), a musician from London who is looking to discover his "roots" in the land of his ancestors.

This film makes its statements in stylish and innovative ways not so common in Bollywood and beneath its satirical surface is a genuinely funny film. Remember that this is just a fiction feature of which intention is just to entertain. Certainly one of my favourite films from India...

200 American (2003)

A gay owner of an ad agency is nursing a broken heart and to escape his dreadful melancholy, he hires a rent boy for sex one evening. He is surprised that the guy he hires is actually decent, sweet and smart so he finds him a position in his company. He then learns that he is actually Australian and he is only hustling to raise a certain amount to obtain an American green card. On the other hand, the owner's right hand man has fallen for the hustler and vice versa, that's when the tension starts amongst those involved...

An honest simple story that is worth seeing... maybe not as great as the other films you watch but it ain't bad compared to most independent films. Considering the budget constraints and everything, the only flaw I find is that all three major characters are good-looking. I'd expect the owner to look more ordinary so that it would be more credible to use his greens to have some overnight fun. But I bet the presence of good looks is purely a marketing strategy.

Danny (Robert Sean Leonard) returns home to his parents to be with them in the final days of his battle against AIDS. The stress of the situation brings out the tensions and anxieties that the family members have been quietly bearing for years. Danny's mother (Glenn Close) grows closer to her son through the tragedy. His father (David Strathairn) struggles with the reality of his son's life and illness.

Also starring Whoopi Goldberg and Bridget Fonda, IN THE GLOAMING is a simplistic film that is precisely directed to perfection that it won't waste a second of your time. All scenes in this one-hour piece are equally important; and Glenn Close and Robert Sean Leonard's performances make it more than just another AIDS-related family film.

Save Me (2007)

A deft exploration of the controversial ex-gay movement, the story follows Mark (Chad Allen), a drug-addicted young man who overdoses and finds himself at the mercy of his disapproving family. Their solution to Mark's problems is to check him into a Christian run ministry overseen by Gayle (Judith Light), who believes she can help cure young men of their 'gay affliction' through spiritual guidance. At first, Mark resists the efforts of Gayle and her loving husband Ted (Stephen Lang), but soon finds solace and brotherhood with several of the members, including Scott (Robert Gant), who is battling family demons of his own. When Mark and Scott begin to find their friendship developing into an unexpected romance, both are forced to confront the new attitudes they're beginning to accept, and Gayle finds the values she holds as an absolute truth to be threatened.

I have mixed feelings about the story of the film probably because of the presence of religion but I was immensely affected by its lead charaters as the actors' fine portrayal of the roles made the film worth watching from beginning to end.

Clay Farmers (1988)

Mike, a young hired hand in California is working a small farm with a close friend, Dan. Mike is content on the farm and obviously attracted to the handsome Dan. Dan seems to be attracted to Mike as well but is a drifter and not happy as a farmer. He longs to finish out the contract and move on to a big city, perhaps with Mike. Gary, a boy from the next farm over, befriends them during their daily chores. Gary lives with his abusive father, a stepmother and a stepbrother. Gary is drawn to the camaraderie of the young farmhands in part to avoid his problems at home. When an innocent session of skinny-dipping is misconstrued by the boy's father, the young hired hands soon find themselves unjustly suspected of wrongdoing in a suddenly hostile small town.

CLAY FARMERS is definitely worth one's time though it has some flaws which is rather acceptable being aware that it's a low budget production. The story has so much depth in it that you ought to understand it with your heart & brain at the same time. The two leads' acting is definitely commendable!

After getting out of the reformatory, he joined his gang-mates in drug trafficking, pimping and even murder. Worst of all -- he is only eleven years old.

PIXOTE: A LEI DO MAIS FRACO is a brilliant offer from Brazil filmed in a quasi-documentary style showing one of the worst scenarios any humankind can experience, that is, living below the poverty line. Indeed, a terrifying truth that serves a very important purpose and that is to see how our poor brothers suffer, not only in Brazil but in the rest of the world. A must see, most definitely!

The Kittredges are entertaining friends one evening when a young black man named Paul (Will Smith) appears at their door. Paul says that he's a close friend of their children, with whom he attended boarding school, and he's just been mugged and needs to get off the street for a moment. Flan and Ouisa invite him in, and they are immediately taken by Paul's intelligence and charm; he offers to prepare dinner, regales them with stories about his father, Sidney Poitier, and ends up spending the night at their apartment. However, the next morning Flan and Ouisa discover that they've been had; Paul is actually a con artist from the streets who has been pulling the wool over the eyes of many of their friends -- and his actions are beginning to have serious consequences.

SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION, an adaptation from a stage play, is an intellectual dramedy that made me laugh out loud from the beginning to almost the end. It is a film you should not miss!

Quietly, of course, because he apparently finds it tremendously formidable.

3 GARÇONS, 1 FILLE, 2 MARIAGES (3 GUYS, 1 GIRL, 2 WEDDINGS - its English title) is an entertaining romantic comedy released for television in France. It may have some overtones but overall, it is a sure delight!

DU ER IKKE ALENE (YOU ARE NOT ALONE, internationally) is a classic film from Denmark. It has probably shocked the world during its release but in time it has proven that it is indeed an extraordinary feature. It genuinely showcased the boys' innocent private scenes with the boys after school. A must see!

GIORNI (DAYS, internationally) is a stunning piece from Italy that has been misunderstood by some critiques saying that it is irresponsible and stupid. Quite the contrary, the film powerfully tells its viewers what not to do in order for them to live comfortably in the safer zone. A must-see especially to those who are not so careful... with their sexual encounters.

Max (Clive Owen), a bisexual playboy, is attending an orgy thrown by drag queen "Greta" (Mick Jagger) and featuring a number of party members when the festivities are raided by the police; Max and his lover Rudy (Brian Webber) escape, but they are later arrested and sentenced to a concentration camp. En route to the camp, Max betrays Rudy and arranges to be given a yellow identification star, marking him as a Jew, instead of a pink triangle, which would signify him as gay; while the Jews are destined to be executed, gay prisoners receive even more brutal treatment from the guards. While incarcerated, Max meets Horst (Lothaire Bluteau), an inmate who proudly wears the pink triangle. Max and Horst fall in love with each other, and Horst's bravery leads Max to accept his sexual identity.

BENT is truly one of the best films ever made for its genre. Based on a theatrical production, this powerful and moving film made in Britain mainly demonstrates the most evil practice or treatment by humans that act more like beasts than humans. It’s certainly a film for everyone!

Algunos acaban con la persona que esperaban, pero la mayoría se encuentra con la persona equivocada, terminando sin embargo más felices que al principio. Encuentran un nuevo kilómetro cero para sus vidas.

At 6pm one hot summer, fourteen persons who need a change in their lives are in the center of Madrid, the Kilometer Zero. Each one of them made an appointment to meet someone they have not met yet except for one couple. Obviously there were mistakes but turned a lot better than what they expected for... from zero to a new kilometer in their lives.

KM. 0 is one of the best sensible comedies I have watched and that I suggest you fasten your seatbelts whilst watching as you might fall down from your seats. Maybe I have exaggerated so much but it is really a very good watch! Good actors playing great characters. I personally like the stories of the student aspiring to become a director and his encounter with the prostitute; and the flamenco dancer finding his soul-mate by chance.

Ο πατέρας του όμως τους πετάει χωρίς δισταγμό στο δρόμο. Στο μεταξύ, ένας φίλος του πεθαίνει από νοθευμένη ηρωίνη αλλά και ο Παναγιώτης θα έχει την ίδια τύχη, καθώς προσπαθεί να δραπετεύσει από το διαμέρισμα του Νίκου, όπου έχει μπει για να κλέψει. Ο Σάσα ζητάει από τον Κοτσιάν να τους βοηθήσει να φύγουν από την πόλη αλλά εκείνος αναγκάζεται να τον προδώσει στον Γιώργο. Στη συμπλοκή που ακολουθεί, ο Σάσα σκοτώνει τον Γιώργο και συλλαμβάνεται απ’ την αστυνομία, ενώ η Νατάσα ακολουθεί τη δικιά της μοίρα.

Barely eighteen years old Sasha (Stathis Papadopoulos) and his childhood friends Kotsian and Pangiotis are the central characters of this film about Greek-Russian immigrants from Kazakhstan. Now living in Menidi, a poor neighbourhood on the western outskirts of Athens, they try hard to fit in as they dream of conquering the world. Sasha is always in conflict with his father, suddenly decides to stop working in the construction site and bullies Pangiotis about his relationship with a rich young gay Nikos. Aware that he is jobless, Giorgos, a blackmailing pimp asks him to look after Natasha, a Russian prostitute, until he finds her the rightful buyer. Instead, he falls for her, escapes with her and returns home. When his father sees Natasha, he asks them to leave the house immediately without hesitation. Simultaneously, another friend is dying of tainted heroin and Pangiotis meets the same fate when he tries to steal from Nikos’ apartment. After being thrown away, Sasha then asks Kotsian to help them leave the city but Kotsian betrays him in favour of Giorgos. In a fight that follows, Sasha kills Giorgos… he gets arrested whilst Natasha follows her own destiny.

He is sexually interested in boys and in particular to his handsome athletic classmate Charel (Tjebbo Gerritsma) who is the biggest bully in his class.

SPELEN OF STERVEN which literally translates to "Games or Death" and titled TO PLAY OR TO DIE in English is a psychological teenage film (quite long for a short and too short to be classified as full-length) from the Netherlands based from an eponymous book. The acting department is remarkably compelling and the characters are appealing.

So many feel that the static and noisy background is irritating but what they do not realise is the fact that those effects are meant to add up to the distressing and distracting feeling the lead actor is going through. A good film to my books!

First of all, it’s a story about dignity. There‘s a misunderstanding in the beginning. A regular 16-year old guy, Kaspar (Vallo Kirs), stands up for the looser of the class, Joosep (Pärt Uusberg). As I said, it was an accident, a mistake, but later, when everybody asks why he did so, Kaspar will not admit that it was a mistake. Instead, he claims his independence from the rule of the most popular guy in the class, Anders (Lauri Pedaja). This is the beginning of a war where teenagers no longer see where mischievous bullying ends and a crime begins. Would you give up your girl and your life in order to save your dignity?

KLASS (THE CLASS, internationally) certainly has a lot of flaws but such are needed to make the film as horrifying and violent and realistic as possible and I could imagine how horrifying the incidents could be if they are really existent... well, I am referring to the way incidents are presented in the film. Great acting from the three lads and this Estonian feature got my full attention.

This Canadian drama tells the tale of Camille, who works at an uptight Protestant college as a professor of mythology. She has been going out with career theologian Martin for three years, but it appears her real true love is her dog, Bob. Bob dies in a tragic car accident and poor Camille is devastated. She is so upset that she grabs the wrong clothes from the laundromat. The clothes belong to the beautifully predatory Petra. Camille discovers the error and returns them to Petra's workplace, an avant-garde circus in an empty warehouse where Petra confesses that she switched them on purpose so she could seduce Camille. Camille demurs. Petra begins following her, and gets to kiss her in the lobby. Eventually the persistent Petra succeeds and the two become lovers.

WHEN NIGHT IS FALLING is a romantic drama from Canada that exudes so much love and tenderness. The lead actresses' performances are so sensually delightful that I really enjoyed seeing them together... no matter what they do!

It’s no wonder why QUINCEAÑERA grabbed the major awards in Sundance for it is no ordinary film. It is a film that has given a better insight of the Latinos living in the US and remarkably, the majority of great acting is provided by amateurs. Brilliant!

Tibor eventually confronts the reality of his own failed marriage and of Zsolt's criminality and unavailability.

FÉRFIAKT (which literally translates to "men" and titled MEN IN THE NUDE in English) is a seductive drama feature that realistically demonstrates passion being awakened but the same putting the awakened's life to risk... a film where scenes are provocatively tempting but certainly not explicit. Based on a true story, HITLERJUNGE SALOMON or better known as EUROPA EUROPA is a story of luck, wit and survival. Having outlived the web of obstacles and its consequences, it’s a genuine miracle that the lead character breathes the air longer than life. FEED is an Indie film from Australia that is stylishly made albeit low budget. In spite of that, it successfully exhibited one of the darkest depths of human sexual depravity. In fact, it is a good film but its theme would make some of you feel otherwise. I’d say watch it... to witness what you probably have not seen before. You have been WARNED!

CAFFEINE simply is a film about some characters we probably have encountered in our lives and how they attempt to repair fractured relationships. It's certainly a nice film to watch over a cup of coffee.

Realizing he has feelings for her, they visit London, Paris, Amsterdam, Bratislava, Berlin, and Rome, getting into all manner of awkward and embarrassing situations along the way.

EUROTRIP is a 2004 American comedy that is really surprisingly hilarious and what makes it really funny in general are the wrong notions of Americans about Europe and the Europeans. Unfortunately, it’s not for family viewing as some scenes and some of the languages used are not meant for minors.

Just doing his job, magazine editor Taishin Mamiya (Yoshikazu Kotani) interviews high school model Noeru Kisaragi (Takumi Saito). Despite Noeru's bad attitude, an enchanting picture of the ocean he draws leads Mamiya to invite him out for dinner afterwards. They connect at the restaurant, but while in the toilet there Noeru solicits Mamiya sexually. The next morning, Noeru's office calls the magazine office where Mamiya works. "Your editor was rude. Have him come and apologize." When Mamiya goes to Noeru's house to deliver the apology, he sees Noeru with a dirty-looking man. Mamiya is shocked to discover at that moment that his interest in Noeru goes beyond article research -- he truly wants to know more about him.

ボーイズラブ (BOYS LOVE, internationally) is a very absorbing dramatic feature from Japan despite some flaws which are actually tolerable. What I really like about the film are the great quotations they used to put emphasis on particular scenarios. The result was so successful that a sequel is actually in the making (if not finished yet) retaining the character of Mamiya. I keep my fingers crossed that I get copy of the sequel the moment it becomes available.

A young gay aspiring musical theater writer/composer searches in vain for someplace to bed down with a sexy go-go dancer in this sweet-natured romantic comedy set in Manhattan. Gabriel (Christian Campbell) wants to compose musical comedies whilst his best friend and confidante Katherine (Tori Spelling) wants to star in his productions. On the way home from a local gay cruise bar, Gabriel notices Mark (Jean Paul Pitoc), one of the dancers from the club, catnapping in the subway. After flirting and exchanging sloppy stares at one another, Mark joins Gabriel at the latter’s small one-room apartment only to find themselves disturbed by a pet dog and Katherine and his heterosexual roommate and his roommate’s girlfriend. Their attempt to find a suitable boudoir leads them from one location to another and along the way they discover that their attraction might extend beyond a one-night stand affair.

TRICK is obviously unrealistic but definitely one entertaining film. The fine acting of the three leads combined with some witty lines and funny moments not to mention the comical musical numbers are enough to make you feel good whilst enjoying the film.

Ces nouveaux voyages lui permettront peut-être de réconcilier le travail, l'amour et l'écriture.

At almost 30, Xavier (Romain Duris) has achieved his childhood dream of being a writer but somehow he seems still a little lost. He is having problems with his banker... he is also reluctant to settle with one woman and continues his adventures in love which in turn is always full of inconsistencies. Due to inevitable circumstances, Xavier is forced to continue his work in London... then to St. Petersburg. His recent travels may probably help reconcile his work, love and writing.

Amongst sequels, LES POUPÉES RUSSES (THE RUSSIAN DOLLS, its literal English title) is well-written and directed that it succesfully maintained the coolness if not better “L’Auberge Espagnole.” Again, I enjoyed the film a lot because it has more meaning that can inspire those who are having the same dilemma when they are almost in the same age as Xavier. Aside from that, you’ll be treated to great acting by practically all the members of the cast plus you’d be able to see three beautiful European cities – Paris, London and St Petersburg.

Floating on a skateboard through the wet streets of Seattle and Portland in the small hours of the night, Nick (Ruben Bansie-Snellman) is like a prophet who denies the existence of the world. A high-school-aged graffiti artist with no family or friends, Nick steals what he needs, sleeps where he becomes tired and wanders the city at night with no other idea than perfecting his tag, "Rupture." So when Nick meets Jesse (Pepper Fajans), another tagger and they start up a friendship, his hopes and desires are like the art he has left on back street buildings, abandoned railroad cars and lonely walls: beautiful, but hidden.

If you decide to watch THE GRAFFITI ARTIST, you ought to place yourself in Nick's shoes, otherwise, you'll be out there questioning yourself what is the purpose of having the film made. I am sure there would be a lot of mixed feelings and those who have the "artist" in them would surely find this a real treat as they would easily relate to it.

25-year old Xavier (Romain Duris) leaves for Barcelona to finish his studies in Economics and learn Spanish. The language is prerequisite to fill a post that was promised to him by the Minister of Finance who happens to be a friend of his father. But to do so, he must leave his girlfriend Martine whom he has lived with for four years. In Spain, Xavier seeks accommodation and finally found an apartment in central Barcelona which he shares with seven other people -- all originating from different countries in Europe.

L'AUBERGE ESPAGNOLE which literally translates to THE SPANISH INN in English and titled EURO PUDDING internationally, is funny, unique, authentic, interesting, witty and absolutely exceptional. It clearly showed the life of an outsider amongst other outsiders in a foreign land. Indeed, a very enjoyable film!

Not far away, four co-workers pull up in a van. Sheryl (Melanie Lynskey) and Meredith (Anne Dudek) both have a crush on Nathan (Trent Ford) who runs around nude with Babar (Maulik Pancholy) who has been secretly admiring Trent, too. Meanwhile, April (Dagney Kerr) is trying to kill herself, and Darnell (Treach) the tow-truck driver will be called in to help clean this mess up whilst Javier (Francesco Quinn) will be escorting someone home. All of this takes place during a lunch break one day and after this, you'll never look at you local municipal park quite the same way again...

PARK is a humorous ensemble comedy blent with some drama about honesty, sex and relationships that will surely entertain its audience. All actors portrayed their roles to a T.

Eyal (Lior Ashkenazi), grew up to be a tough Israeli "Mossad" agent. When Axel comes to Israel to visit his sister, who has rebelliously left her family, Eyal is assigned to be his tour guide, as part of a "Mossad" last attempt to find Axel's grandfather. The two travel throughout Israel together and an unexpected close friendship develops. The unfamiliar emotions the men experience in Israel are merely an introduction to the trying and challenging events awaiting them later in Germany, when Eyal "visits" Axel in Berlin. A visit that forces each of them to face and question the meaning and the kind of life they lead.

ללכת על המים, internationally known as WALK ON WATER, phonetically read as LALEHET AL HAMAYIM in Hebrew, it is a film of intelligent direction and story. Some critiques found its ending implausible but to me, it's the exact contrast. If they only paid attention to every line that has been uttered by each actor, I am sure they'll take back their cynical views. If only the two lead actors went further than their close friendship, I am sure that it would bring so much more excitement to the film.

A story based on real life experiences of a group of Latino teenagers who, instead of conforming to the hip hop culture of their gang infested neighbourhood, wear their clothes tight, ride their skateboards, and listen to punk rock. Constantly harassed for being different, they have to fight to be themselves. One morning, they take two city buses from South Central to skate the famous "Nine Stairs" at Beverly Hills High that they always see in the popular skateboard videos. Whilst they are there they catch the attention of some rich Beverly Hills girls, which leads to trouble with the girls' boyfriends as well as the police. The police bust them simply because they're there and they escape into Beverly Hills where they meet up with the girls and a variety of characters, getting into really big trouble as they are chased by the police and the residents. The boys have to get away and try to make their way to the relative safety of their own neighbourhood.

Considering WASSUP ROCKERS' description from the producers, I'd say that it's quite an entertaining piece of documentary about Latino youngsters. Most importantly, this film succeeded in showing what true Latino brotherhood really means... and it's really somethin'...

The film is a portrait of three brothers in three chapters. The first part opens with 22-year-old Marc (Nicolas Cazalé), the rebellious middle brother who idolizes his eldest brother, and the contempt of the youngest brother. The second part continues with 26-year-old Christophe (Stéphane Rideau) who is in the stage of reintegration after being in prison and now reformed to be back in the society. And the final part with 17-year-old Olivier (Thomas Dumerchez), the youngest brother who is romantically linked with Hicham (Salim Kechiouche) who is 21, the three brothers' closest friend amongst the brotherhood. With all the tragic events in their lives, three contrasting portraits will shape, all linked together...

LE CLAN (THE CLAN, internationally) is a powerful film with a practically all-male ensemble of mostly good-looking hunks. Although, there is a gay episode, the film is definitely the story of three brothers greatly affected by the loss of their mother and now raised by their father who cannot figure out how to handle them; and the brotherhood that surrounds them -- its tragedies and excitements. Great acting by Cazalé who portrayed the rebel of integrity and a soft heart... and very adorable performances by Dumerchez and Kechiouche as lovers.

The movie describes a series of events that happen to Joaquín, from his adolescence up to the adulthood.

There's nothing much to say about this autobiographical-like film other than I thoroughly enjoyed it... smiled a lot... and even felt sexual on some occasions. Simply intriguing... pssst! NO SE LO DIGAS A NADIE (DON'T TELL ANYMONE)!

He makes a few inquiries and then speculates... he names Serge Tanguy (Aurélien Recoing), the father of the boy as the prime suspect of the murder...

Some critics and viewers got so confused with L'ENNEMI NATUREL which I find not alienating at all though certainly very intriguing. They probably didn't pay attention to the film second by second that they lost touch somewhere when they were scratching their heads or probably daydreaming about Tanguy & Luhel's private parts. It's all about the mystery of the crime and the discovery of Luhel's hidden sexuality. And for a directorial debut, it's an amazing attempt!

F. EST UN SALAUD is a Swiss film titled FOGI IS A BASTARD in English with a cast of French actors. It is a very disturbing piece but a very good one that it had won for itself Best Film in at least one of the film festivals. It's a story of love so powerful that it can destroy one's life. And it also showed how terrifying drugs can be when it overpowers its users. It makes me believe that on occasions, it is best not to give all, and putting limitations sometimes works more successfully.

A moody, stylish and sex-charged English thriller about Tom (Daniel Newman), a rent boy who is kept by George Norris (Mark McGann), a sado-masochistic gangster. Tom is kept in high style in a London flat filled with pop art and a bedroom deco set up, not only for sex, but also for blackmail with a hidden camera focused on the red silk bedsheets. Tom is being sucked down into a nasty scheme involving drugs, money and protection by Norris' connection with a crooked gay cop Dunston (John Benfield). Things turn nasty rather quickly in this fast-paced thriller as we glimpse scenes of Tom being beaten by his boss and sent in to a bar as part of a scheme to rough up the owner. As a way to introduce some sanity into his dark and abusive life, Tom befriends a straight American couple downstairs, Max & Nikke Bergman (Corey Johnson & Toni Barry) and is invited to dinner at their flat. When Tom returns to his flat, Norris starts a jealous spat with his boy and Norris is accidentally killed whilst forcing the boy for sex.

ENDGAME is a stunning British thriller about a hunky rent-boy caught in a web of blackmail and murder. But not an ordinary rent-boy as he is clearly for the wealthy only but you will be treated of Newman's many great shots in the shower, shirtless with leather pants and in underwear. With a crisp script, clear-cut editing, a striking soundtrack and excellent acting, this film is surely one of the best gay thrillers I've seen.

The central story is filmed by a video camera which was actually a gift for Etienne (Jimmy Tavares) from his grandmother on his 16th birthday. With it he discovers the world around him particularly the ones involving his geography teacher. The relationships of the images and the discovery of adolescent desires are the two themes depicted in this film.

MA VRAIE VIE A ROUEN (MY LIFE ON ICE, its English title) is filmed like an actual home video but it is rich of personal meaning, that is, of Etienne's. It's touchingly sweet and again we see another dilemma of an adolescent's coming to terms with his sexuality. The character of Etienne is charmingly played by Jimmy Tavares who is a professional figure skater and champion in real life.

SURVEILLANCE 24/7 is a visually entertaining paranoid tale that can actually be so terrifying if it does exist fully in reality. This fast-paced thriller has a good ensemble of British actors that includes Pierce Brosnan’s son Séan. Let me warn you that its style is not for everyone as I’ve read quite a lot of negative comments but I’d recommend it to those who can stay in focus when they watch a film as chances are they’d enjoy it the way I did.

Leo (Pepón Nieto) and Rey (Carlos Fuentes) are a gay couple that lives in Chueca. They are very ordinary people with no fashion sense, like football, and though they have some relationship crisis, they still manage to live happily. Meanwhile, a kind of weird crime is taking place in Chueca committed by Victor (Pablo Puyol), a real estate owner whose main aspiration is to turn the neighbourhood to a new place intended for the young generation with good looks. Modern luxury houses will be built and in order for him to accomplish his mission, he murders all those elder ladies that do not give up their units. Next he kills the neighbour of Leo & Rey but unknown to Victor, the couple will have the legal claim of the unit if ever their old neighbour is gone, therefore, Rey gave the unit to his mother Antonia (Concha Velasco) who is a shameless, provoking smoker that hates Leo to death. When Victor notices that the unit has been occupied immediately, he works his way to get rid of the new tenant but Antonia is not that easy to give up. When Victor learns that Antonia is Rey's mother, Victor tries to get into Leo and seduce him to make sure that his relationship with Rey gets down the drain.

CHUECATOWN (titled BOYSTOWN in English) is a wickedly funny dark comedy from Spain. Great actors that will surely make you laugh and as usual, charming performances from Carlos Fuentes and Pablo Puyol. At last, Carlos has finally portrayed a gay role though this is actually his third appearance on a gay-themed film. And I almost didn't notice him because he is bald with a very muscular physique.

Blaine sees a newsreel of fighter-pilots in France and decides that he has nothing to lose. Briggs Lowry (Tyler Labine) can't do anything right and is shamed into joining his rich father. African-American boxer Eugene Skinner (Abdul Salis) had been living in France, a racially tolerant country, for many years, wanted to give something back to his new country. These Americans were under the command of French Captain Georges Thenault (Jean Reno) and American Squadron Leader Reed Cassidy (Martin Henderson).

The FLYBOYS is a film that will take you back a century ago when men then were more "men" than now. It will let you experience what men ultimately want at that time -- "je vois tout." A film of courage and feelings that is recommended highly for the men of today.

In this third instalment of the Donald Strachey mystery, Dorothy (Margot Kidder), an elderly guidance counsellor of a local high school who is open about her being a lesbian refuses to sell her home to a powerful developer. Soon she was suspended for advising one of the students to seek help from a “questioning youth hotline” and her house which she shares with the love of her life, Edith (Gabrielle Rose), was vandalized and the couple receives several homophobic threats. Is Dorothy’s sudden streak of bad lucks motivated by the real estate conglomerate or the anti-gay neighbourhood? As Donald (Chad Allen) investigates, three stories of great gay love surface: Dorothy’s undying love for Edith, Donald’s realization of how he loves Tim (Sebastian Spence), and the love of a young couple, Derek (Keegan Macintosh) & Joey (Kerry James), whose fathers are both homophobic. And there is a bit of sexual invitation when hunky Andrew (Damon Runyan), Tim’s ex-flame, in full nudity tries to seduce Donald who confirms that he is into monogamous (sexual) relationship only.

I’d say that ON THE OTHER HAND, DEATH is the best of the four instalments so far… it has a clever story plot that is fast-paced and full of twists & turns and fine acting from the lead characters.

DRÔLE DE FÉLIX (ADVENTURES OF FELIX, internationally) is a graceful and humourous adventure that is full of tenderness, happiness and friendliness... all shared without restraint. The positive attitude of Félix is what the film is all about. It is an offer from France that will surely entertain you.

The fourth installment of the Donald Strachey mystery and this time it's set in New York and the client is actually Tim (Sebastian Spence) who as everyone knows is the loving partner of Donald (Chad Allen) who receives an anonymous 3M donation to shelter kids at risk. An instant meeting between the representative of the donor and Tim at a parking lot was halted when a hit man starts firing at the two of them. The donor vanishes and was found dead inside Donald's rented card in their residence the next morning.

ICE BLUES has a plot so unrealistic but the director managed to divert one's attention to its fast phased actions making it pleasant and thrilling to watch. Allen is as usual the series' best asset. He has an easygoing acting style that makes his character appealing.

Jessica Graham's portrayal as Abigail the lesbian detective is quite good. The photography is far better than average. It certainly has some good laughs and some very sexual moments. It's an Indie film... and I wonder why so many people would want to see it with all those negative reviews. Well, judge for yourself!

Marieta (Mónica Cervera) does not want to be addressed as Adolfo. To be called in the same way as his father and to have twenty centimeters just like his makes the creeps out of him. He prefers to be called Marieta and be treated and respected as a woman. He suffers from narcolepsy and instantly falls asleep in the least opportune moment. But during his attacks he immediately dreams of elaborate musical extravaganza... that he is the star and sings magnificently in different languages. And she really feels like a total woman. He falls in love with Raúl (Pablo Puyol) who adores his body, most especially... that part of her she wants removed.

20 CENTÍMETROS is another fantabulous offer from Spain. Its very imaginative story staged with outlandish musical performances by the actors themselves is incredibly fun-tastic. An entertainment film that I highly recommend to everyone... straight or not straight... gay or not gay!

50 WAYS OF SAYING FABULOUS is the better version of the novel and take note, the novel is really very good. The actors are incredibly good considering their age and the fact that New Zealand is not actually an "acting" country. This film is definitely one of the best releases in 2005.

It’s summer in a southern working-class skid row. Tano (Juan José Ballesta), a youngster doing time in a reform centre, receives a special 48-hour pass to attend his brother Santacana's wedding. 7 VÍRGINES (7 VIRGINS) is a well-directed film with brilliant actors particularly the phenomenal acting of the two leads, Ballesta & Carroza. The story about teenagers is written so realistically that it would give you a clear and deep insight on some individuals you might probably have encountered in your lives. With its breezy shots of male genitalia and characters nicknamed Long John and Tripod, this is a surprisingly endearing romantic comedy that explores gay relationships with low-budget verve. The film’s swishy centerpiece is Luke (Jesse Archer), a promiscuous “gay cliché” who works in a Chelsea sex shop along with his friend Zeke (Cory Grant). While Luke chases sexual oblivion, Zeke engages in social activism and a running commentary on Luke’s moral shortcomings. But when Luke falls for a less flamboyant lover named Stephen (Charlie David) and decides to cut back on the sparkles, he soon discovers that his new boyfriend is even more old-fashioned than he thought.

A FOUR LETTER WORD to my belief is a sequel to Slutty Summer with practically the same lead characters minus Markus & Tyler who are supposed to be living happily in Europe. I have to be honest that in terms of laughs, I prefer the older one but in terms of the total film, I certainly would vote for this one. I wonder if they'd make another sequel... if so, I definitely want Luke & Zeke in it again and I think Marilyn had enough as she really bored me this time!

AMIC/AMAT is about relationships and true friendships. In every battle there are victors but who are the losers in the end? This is another masterpiece from Spain with stellar performances by its actors. Another must-see!

Seventeen-year old Ben (Greg Timmermans) has his own world – role-playing games online. He suffers from Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism and very often bullied at school because no one understands him which is viciously making his life a living hell. His mother seems not capable of understanding him but cannot help him until he asks for it. Online, he regularly meets the mysterious Scarlite but when she suspects that her cyber friend is in a lot of trouble, she desperately tries to contact him and meet each other for real.

BEN X is a well made, superbly acted piece with an emotionally engaging script and an important message. It is for every human to watch and feel. A highly recommendable film from Belgium and the Netherlands based on a true story...

He starts conducting his piece and suddenly Lyla stopped and gazed back on stage and instantly felt so much hope. Louis on the other hand, races to the park when he sees Evan's pseudonym along with Lyla's name on a street ad billing the concert. And at its conclusion, he turns around to see Lyla and Louis standing hand in hand, and he finally makes the connection that they're his parents.

The very first clip I have uploaded back in KiloToneS' days -- one of the most powerful scenes I have watched that have shown LOVE in all angles... all you have to do is listen... and then you have no way to stop it getting unto you...

Loïc's journey to self awareness is told through a series of episodic events, such as the suicide of his best friend, his growing infatuation with a local team's soccer star, Rui Alves (Rui Pedro Alves), a car accident and subsequent hospitalisation which uncomfortably reunites him with his parents. At the end of the film he realizes that he can be his own person and he recites a list of things he will never do in order to fit in and belong.

GARÇON STUPIDE (STUPID BOY internationally) is a docu-drama from Switzerland that succeeded with ease because of the great characterisation of its lead star who is in fact, a straight guy in real life. Great cinematography and great sceneries that somehow serve as metaphors to the life of a confused guy trying to discover his true identity.

The story concerns a bisexual hustler (Joe Dallesandro) who does tricks so that he can pay for his wife's lover's abortion. The film made headlines when it was confiscated by the police during one of its earliest showings in 1970. Though this event is unlikely to repeat itself, Flesh is still explicit enough to elicit gasps from even the most jaded of underground-film enthusiasts.

FLESH is an experimental film that shocked the world and was definitely a sensation when it was released in the big screen for it showed the first extensive full-frontal nudity by a male in the movies. Rolling Stone magazine in 1970 declared it as the "Best Film of the Year." Just looking at Joe's face then, no actor today -- decent or porn -- can match his genuinely natural appeal, setting aside the fact that he is a very natural actor.

21-year old Carlos (Juan Diego Botto) is a young student who is nice or annoying as he likes, enjoys provoking and transgressing. In the night he goes to Kronen where he meets his friends in the bars. Every situation can be taken a little farther. There are no limits, no accepted barriers. And more each time, each adventure is chained to the next, as if it were a continuous night. And, amongst that, the obscure will of living every minute as if it were the last one. Nevertheless, something happens that will put Carlos and his friends against a reality they have been trying to ignore until the last moment.

HISTORIAS DEL KRONEN is classified as fiction but amazingly all the incidents in this film from Spain had occurred in reality especially in my own real world. It's a film that I could really relate to and I know that there are quite a number of people out there who would be feeling exactly the same.

Alex Andero (Michael Parducci) is an aspiring filmmaker who makes ends meet by working in the restaurant founded by his father. Alex has dreamed up a character named Jagger Stevens, a James Bond-style undercover agent who is trying to infiltrate a drug smuggling ring operated by super models. Alex's cousin Norman (Bill Cohen) works in Hollywood as a producer and actually thinks the Jagger Stevens idea has potential, so he asks Alex to write a script. However, Alex doesn't know the first thing about screenwriting; he signs up for a class in writing for film, but he hasn't made much progress beyond attracting a girl named Gwen (Judy Prescott) whom he isn't even sure he likes. However, there's a new waiter at the restaurant, Joey (Kerr Smith), who is good looking, gay, and has an admirer named Elliot (Peter Jacobson) who happens to be a screenwriter. Alex and Elliot meet through Joey, and before long begin collaborating on a script, although Jagger Stevens is a good bit different after Elliot gets through with him.

HIT AND RUNWAY is a stereotypical gay romantic comedy that is so honestly presented in a systematic and approachable way, therefore, as the film progresses... your enjoyment intensifies. It is definitely a recommendable film for everyone especially for those who adore straight-gay relationships.

Into The Wild (2007)

This film is based on a true-to-life story of Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch), an actual student-athlete at Emory University, as told by his sympathetic sister Carine (Jena Malone). In response to his materialistic, manipulative, and domineering parents Billie & Walt (Marcia Gay Harden and William Hurt, respectively), McCandless destroys all of his credit cards and identification documents, donates $24,000 (nearly his entire savings) to Oxfam, and sets out on a cross-country drive in his well-used but reliable economy car towards his ultimate goal: to live alone and off the land in Alaska. Along the way, leaves his automobile in the course of a flash flood, to hitchhike his way there after burning the remainder of his dwindling cash supply. Taking an unintentionally circuitous route, he encounters Rainey (Brian H. Dierker) & Jan Burres (Catherine Keener), Wayne Weterberg (Vince Vaughn), Tracy Tatro (Kristen Stewart), Kevin (Zach Galifianakis), Ron Franz (Hal Holbrook) and many other unconventional individuals on his itinerary as he purposefully trudges onward to his final destination, arriving in the wilds of Alaska nearly two years after his initial departure. He starts living in a "Magic Bus" serving as a shelter for people walking in the area (though in the film there is nobody else). Resourceful, McCandless finds joy in living off the land, and begins to write a book of his adventures. Unfortunately, as the spring thaw arrives, he is cut off from civilization by waterways. As his food supply lessens, he resorts to eating plants. Although he consults a brought-along book about the edibility of plants, he confuses an edible and a poisonous kind, which weakens him. While he survives the poison, he is unable to find animals to hunt and he slowly starves to death. As he dies, he continues to write, detailing his painful demise as a dramatic denouement to his autobiography.

When I have watched it on the big screen last year, I was so amazed about the life Christopher McCandless had chosen. I got so puzzled because in today’s existence, all I see are people who want nothing else but power and wealth. I might have exaggerated but I know that given the chance, everybody would want to have both in their hands. So the question is… was he really for real? I have to admit though that he has given me some inspiration. The DVD is out now and I say that INTO THE WILD is definitely a MUST BUY!

His father Ray (John Savage) is a Vietnam veteran whose physical and emotional scars from the war have turned him into a psychotic; he terrorizes his two younger children, Mikey (Adam Burke) and Mark (Devon Michael), brutalizes his wife Kate (Nastassja Kinski), and sometimes forces Jimmy and Kate to have sex at gunpoint. Jimmy's girlfriend Traci (Jenny Lewis) is about to move away to attend college, and while Jimmy would like to go with her (and with his abilities as a baseball player he could probably win a scholarship), he's afraid to leave his mother and siblings behind with no protection against Ray's abuse. One night, a man stops by Ray's tavern and begins asking questions; the stranger arouses Ray's fear and suspicion, and he never makes it home after an "accident" in the man's room. The death leads the local police to begin asking questions of their own, and soon a number of ugly revelations about the family's history come to light.

LITTLE BOY BLUE is simply amazing... I didn't expect it to be so good. It is a well-written and a well-acted mystery drama. And you'll feel good when you learn the truth in the end that you will remember this movie for sure...
